Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.
Fans can expect finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
